Barrack Information: The Cumberland Barrack is one of the primary law enforcement agencies serving the 73,000 citizens in Allegany County, Maryland. The county is approx. 425 square miles and has approx. 528 county miles of county roads and 40 miles of interstate. The Cumberland Barrack provides full service policing to the citizens of Allegany County.

The Cumberland Barrack handles the majority of the 911 calls for service in the county and conducted over 2400 criminal and traffic investigations last year. In 2007, the Cumberland Barrack led the Western Troop in criminal arrests, CDS Arrests, criminal investigations and incident reports.

The Maryland State Police continues to play the lead role in the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) which is comprised of senior investigators representing all county law enforcement. Investigators assigned to C3I provide immediate response and follow up on all serious and complex investigations within Allegany County and Cumberland City.

Directions: Located on ALT U.S. 40, Cumberland. From U.S. 68 Westbound, take Vocke Road Exit, six miles west of Cumberland.
Fingerprinting Info: In order to have a "background check" or "police clearance" completed by the Maryland State Police, you must appear in person at a Maryland State Police Barrack. At that time you must present a valid, government-issued, photo identification and a check or money order for $5.00 for each fingerprint card required (usually two are required). You will then have your fingerprints taken and those fingerprints will be checked against state and local databases. You will receive a response to our inquiry within a few weeks.
