Helicopter Sections

Six State Police helicopters sitting at the airport 

Our helicopter sections are the most visible part of the Aviation Command. Each year our flight crews transport many sick and injured patients to the hospital, search for missing persons and assist state and local law enforcement agencies with a variety of missions.

In addition to our seven sections, two other public safety helicopter units provide law enforcement and Medevac assistance in Maryland:

Trooper 2 - the "Washington Section". Based at Joint Base Andrews in Camp Springs, Maryland.

The majority of our patients are transported from Prince George's, Anne Arundel and Charles counties. We are proud of the superb working relationship we have with the EMS providers in these areas.

We are also proud of the relationship that we have with the military that allows us to maintain our hangar on their base.

Help Stop Fraud in State Government

The Maryland General Assembly’s Office of Legislative Audits operates a toll-free fraud hotline to receive allegations of fraud and/or abuse of State government resources. Information reported to the hotline in the past has helped to eliminate certain fraudulent activities and protect State resources.
